MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Anna Healy Fenton

Having initially studied Counselling and Hypnotherapy at the UK College of Complementary Health Care Studies at St Charles Hospital, West London, she had rooms in London’s Harley Street before switching to Hong Kong and private counselling in a GP’s office. Further training at the UK Centre for Eating Disorders and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) studies to Trainer level with NLP-co-founder Dr Richard Bandler led to specialising in anxiety, depression and eating disorders and helping smokers to quit. A steady stream of nicotine-addicted clients prompted a deeper interest in treating addictions and trauma-related compulsive behaviours, from drug addiction and alcohol dependency to gaming, gambling and sex addiction. A Masters in Counselling from Melbourne’s Monash University followed, along with training in Mediation. Anna has completed the Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) training in the United States and is currently the only International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Therapists’ (IITAP) qualified CSAT in Hong Kong.

For the last four years, Anna has worked part-time at St John’s Cathedral Counselling Service, Hong Kong’s leading English language counselling agency, as a multi-disciplinary counsellor seeing individual clients and couples with issues ranging from marriage and relationship problems to depression, anxiety, lack of self-esteem, phobias, pornography addiction, pre-marriage counselling and family succession planning. In 2016 she joined addiction services group The Cabin (HK) part-time, as a Family Therapist and Group Therapy Facilitator, becoming Head Counsellor at The Cabin (HK) in January 2020, leading the Cabin’s intensive outpatient programme.

In May 2020 Anna established her own private practice: Counselling Confidential Limited.

While specialising in treating unwanted compulsive behaviour and addiction, she also welcomes clients with mood disorders, anxiety, relationship and family problems and confidence and self-esteem issues.

Anna uses a multidisciplinary client-focused approach, utilising CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Imago techniques, Mindfulness and NLP, as appropriate. Anna also draws from an in-depth knowledge of 12 Step Programmes when working with clients. She is due to complete EMDR certification training in 2020.
